Dear Members

On behalf of the Men’s Section of Cherwell Edge Golf Club, I would like to welcome all existing and new members to the new Golfing year.

Our dedicated competition day is on Saturday and there is usually something different every week - please see the Club Diary for details - where we often have both 18 and 9 hole competitions running alongside each other - some mixed events, some drawn events, and some both mixed and drawn! We have also started running a mixed stableford competition on a Sunday as well to cater for members who are unable to play on a Saturday.

This year we are again running a summer Eclectic from 1st April until 31st October. The scores will be automatically compiled from each relevant qualifying Mens Section competition you play in – detailed terms are provided on the Men’s section noticeboard by the touchscreen score-entry system in the clubhouse. We are also running both summer and winter singles and doubles matchplay knockout competitions.

If you are looking for a game you can join a group by putting your name into a booking space on the club’s booking system, or contact Jason at the club who will be able to point you in the direction of a Mens Section Committee member who can assist in helping you to meet other members and get you fully integrated into the club.

It is recommended that you arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your tee time for our section competitions to avoid congestion on the 1st tee, although if you are like me and you like to be early you can always get a coffee and a bite to eat in the club served by Jason and his friendly staff before your round.

We also participate in the Central 7’s league, playing competitive singles matchplay against other local clubs. If you are interested in playing for the club in any of these please contact the Men’s Section Vice-Captain, Richard Carter-Hounslow, for details.

We have many Honours Board events throughout the year – a chance to get your name up in lights in the clubhouse should you win! Many of these have a post-round presentation which is a great opportunity to meet up with other members and compare notes!
