Vice Captain’s Day Saturday 5th June 2010
On Saturday 5th June 2010 starting with a first tee time of 6.30 am, 148 competitors took part in Vice Captain’s Day at Cherwell Edge Golf Club. Both the weather and scoring were excellent in what was the first Board Event of the season and carried out under the Stableford Format. A presentation took place immediately after the event. The Results are as follows:-
Division 1 1st Ty King 41pts (on count back) 2nd Ian Davies 41pts 3rd Sean Lapper 39pts (on count back)
Division 2 1st Ben Anderson 42pts (on count back) 2nd Mick Wellstood 42pts (on count back) 3rd Bob Borrell 42pts (on count back)
Division 3 1st Chris Edwards 43pts 2nd Adam Berry 39pts 3rd Bob Blake 39pts (on count back) The other prizes of Nearest the pin on the 7th hole Mick Rustemeir and on the 13th hole Adam Riddle, 4 inches from a hole in one.
Longest drives on the 9th hole, the up to 14 handicap winner was Paul Daniells, 15 and over was Mike Faulkner, whilst the Ladies longest drive was won by CEGC Ladies Captain Annie Hooper.
It was excellent to see the performance of two juniors, 13 year old Adam Berry coming second in his division and Best Junior Ben Anderson winning Division 2. The Best Senior was won by Mick Wellstood and Best Lady was won by Claire Busuttill with 36 pts. While the best round of golf of the day winning the prize for lowest Gross Score was John Mumford with a score of 70.
The overall winner with 43 pts was Chris Edwards who was presented with the Silver Salver by the - CEGC Vice Captain Gary Barton (picture attached)
